Wear A Helmet If You Want To Fill Fuel In This City From July 1st
The police force of the coastal city of Cuttack in Odisha, will start implementing the 'No Helmet, No Fuel' rule from July 1, 2016.
The move by the Cuttack Commissionerate Police is part of its bid to crack down on errant riders who ride around in the city without helmets. To create awareness among the people, the police will start an awareness drive about the new rule from June 20.
In order to inform petrol pump owners of the new rule, the police organised a special meeting of the petrol pump owners on 13th June, asking them not to sell petrol to motorists not wearing helmets.
Speaking to the Times of India, DCP (Cuttack) Sanjeev Arora said, "We will send letters to all fuel filling stations, educational institutes, government offices and puja committees seeking their cooperation for successful implementation of no helmet no fuel rule. Our teams will keep vigil on the petrol pumps and we will also initiate action against violators by collecting fine from them."
Car owners who drive without a seatbelt will face the same punishment.
