BMW Motorrad Clinches Its Eighth Superstock 1000 Cup Victory
Raffaele De Rosa and the Althea BMW Racing Team celebrated their title win in the 2016 FIM Superstock 1000 Cup (STK1000). During the last race of the season, De Rosa crossed the finish line in the fifth place.
The fifth position was enough to receive the Champion crown, with an advantage of three points over his closest competitor, Leandro Mercado (AR). Out of eight races held this season, De Rosa achieved two wins and three podium finishes.
BMW Motorrad Motorsport officials were on site throughout the season to support the Althea BMW Racing Team and the other teams in the STK1000. This particular victory was the eighth title win of the year for BMW Motorrad.
Commenting on his victory, De Rosa said, "I dedicate this title to my family who have always supported me, even through the difficult times, and to the team, with whom I've now worked with for two years and I am so grateful for all their help."
"I've been working towards this for several years and so am extremely happy that the result has arrived after all our efforts."
