BMW Motorrad To Enter India In October 2016
The sportbike segment is getting all the more exciting with the new entrant BMW Motorrad confirming to enter India in October 2016.
Stefan Schaller, President, and CEO of BMW Motorrad has commented that they will start the operations of manufacturing two-wheelers in India at the ongoing 2016 Concorso d'Eleganza Villa d'Este.
BMW Motorrad first Indian made BMW G310R will go on sale, manufactured by TVS Motor facility in Hosur, Tamil Nadu. As their agreement, the terms of the partnership of BMW-TVS, the BMW G310R will be designed and developed by BMW and the production will be done by TVS Motors.
The BMW G301R is powered by a single cylinder, liquid cooled, and fuel injected engine which will punch out 34bhp at 9500rpm and 28Nm of torque at 7500rpm. The motorcycle is mated to a 6-speed constant mesh gearbox.
On the front, the BMW G310R will feature upside down, non-adjustable 41mm forks and a swingarm-mounted mono shock on the rear. The front will sport 300mm front disc brakes and the rear will be taken care by 240mm disc brakes. It will also get ABS as standard fitment.
On launched, the BMW G310R will go up against KTM Duke 390 and the Mahindra Mojo. This will be the first sub-500cc motorcycle from the BMW Motorrad team. The motorcycle is designed and made to make your commuting easy and the riding capabilities are enhanced even though not compromising on the performance of the machine.
TVS Motor will build a motorcycle on this platform, recently they revealed the TVS Akula 310 which is a bike built on this platform. As of now, BMW Motorrad sells bikes under the CBU format and is available through two of their distributors - Deutsche Motoren for Delhi and NCR region and Navnit Motors for the rest of India.
