BMW Motorrad experienced growth in all markets worldwide and was the market leader in 26 countries in the premium segment of motorcycles over 500 cc.
Markets such as North America and Europe made the biggest contribution to the increase in motorcycle sales. The biggest single market in 2015 was once again, Germany. BMW managed to sell 23,823 vehicles in the home market, in other words, 17.4 percent of total sales.
With this repeated sales success, BMW Motorrad has moved considerably closer to achieving its 2020 sales target. BMW is hoping to supply 200,000 vehicles to customers by 2020. The 2015 sales figure shows that the strategy is taking effect.
In 2016, BMW Motorrad will be entering the under 500 cc class with a legit machine — the G 310 R. The entry level motorcycle is expected to be launched in the second half of the year. While continuing to extend its sales activities in existing markets, BMW shall be penetrating new markets. Asia and South America are very much at the top of the list here.
