BMW Motorrad and TVS Motors have just launched the G310R in the international market. Now rumors suggest that the duo is developing an entry-level adventure motorcycle based on the same platform.
The G310R is currently BMW's entry-level streetfighter motorcycle, whereas the GS310 will be an adventure/touring model. The new motorcycle will borrow several design cues from its adventure/ touring range two-wheelers. Both models, the G310R and GS310, is expected to share most of the components to keep the costs in check.
As reports suggest, the new motorcycle will be developed and produced in India. Similar to the he G310R, BMW will initially launch the GS version in the international markets prior to its India launch.
Recent statistics shows that the demand for adventure and touring motorcycles in the country has increased phenomenally.
We expect the GS version to borrow its engine from the G310R model. BMW Motorrad engineers could tweak engine performance for their adventure/ touring model. The suspension, exhaust system, bodywork, and ergonomics will be altered for a much more effortless riding experience.
In terms of pricing, the BMW GS310 will surely demand a premium over the G310R model. We expect BMW Motorrad to price its GS310 model within Rs. 2.5 lakh ex-showroom. Look out for another two-wheeler manufacturers also entering adventure/touring category soon.
