Bajaj Dominar 400: Key Details Of The Sports Cruiser
Bajaj Dominar 400 will be the flagship motorcycle from the manufacturer, here are the details you need to know
Bajaj Auto is all set to launch the Dominar 400 on December 15, 2016, and the sports cruiser will be the most powerful and flagship motorcycle from the automaker. The Dominar 400 was first showcased as a concept at the 2014 Auto Expo in Delhi and came with the moniker VS400.
While the sports cruiser will be one of the affordable performance bikes in India, it will leap Bajaj to compete with the likes of Mahindra Mojo, Honda CBR250R, KTM Duke 200 and probably even the Royal Enfield Classic 350. Here are the key details of the upcoming Bajaj Dominar 400:
Meaning:
Bajaj showcased the concept Dominar 400 as VS400 at the 2014 Auto Expo in Delhi; however, the meaning behind the name Dominaris "to dominate or master" in theSpanish language.
Styling:
The company has retained most of the styling cues of the concept bike showcased. The design is an aggressive looking sports cruiser and is muscular in its approach.
Power:
Bajaj will use the KTM Duke 390 engine with the specification of a 373.2cc single cylinder, liquid cooled engine. The engine will be re-tuned to produce 35bhp and is expected to get Bajaj's Triple Spark technology to aid the cruiser ride.
Safety Features:
With the new safety norms set to begin from April 2017, Bajaj has equipped the Dominar 400 with the BSIV compliant engine, Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS) and an automatic headlamp on. Both the front and rear wheels will come with disc brakes.
Equipment And Mechanicals:
Instead of the upside down front forks seen in the concept model of the Dominar 400, the production version will feature the telescopic front forks and the rear will be a mono shock suspension setup.
Bajaj recently teased the Dominar 400 with LED equipped headlight and will be company's first model to get one. The LCD-instrument panel will come equipped with loads of information.
Production And Deliveries:
Bajaj has commenced the production of the Dominar 400 and is the first model from the company to be built on an assembly line which is completely handled by women. Deliveries of the Dominar 400 will commence early January 2017 and it has been reported that many dealerships in the country are unofficially begun bookings.
Price:
To keep the Bajaj Dominar 400 competitive yet affordable, the company might price the sports cruiser in the range of Rs 1.50 to 1.70 lakh ex-showroom.
