Yamaha YZF-R1S has been introduced as a street friendly superbike. The Japanese manufacturer will commence the sale of this superbike from February 2016, at a price of USD 14,990 or INR 9,77,946.
All-new Yamaha YZF-R1 will now be available in three choices for riders to choose from. Customers can now choose from new YZF-R1M, YZF-R1 and YZF-R1S superbikes.

Powering 2016 YZF-R1S will be a 998cc inline four-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine. It produces 197.2 horsepower and 112.4Nm of peak torque output. The engine will be paired to a 6-speed gearbox with a slipper clutch.
Yamaha will be providing its YZF-R1S with Lean-angle sensitive TCS, Power Delivery Mode, Slide Control System, Lift Control System and Launch Control System. All these tools will make it a fun to ride superbike on the street as well as around the canyon.
Styling all three YZF-R1 superbikes will be similar and inspired from their MotoGP prototype, the YZF-M1. Yamaha has provided their YZF-R1S with LED turn signals and tail light.

The YZF-R1S will be available in four colour options for customers to choose from. Yamaha will provide their superbike in Matte Gray, Rapid Red, Intensity White and Raven colour options.
Yamaha India currently offers both YZF-R1 and YZF-R1M in the country. It is possible that the Japanese manufacturer will provide Indians with the option of a more street friendly YZF-R1S model.
YZF-R1 is Yamaha's flagship motorcycle and they have spent a lot of time developing it. This is the closest a normal rider can get to the riding experience of a MotoGP machine.
