Yamaha India Inaugurates Its Third Facility In Chennai
Yamaha India has now invested in their third manufacturing facility in the country. It is situated at industrial park in Vallam Vadagal, Chennai and is their third manufacturing unit for Indian market.
Now the Japanese manufacturer has manufacturing units in Faridabad, Surajpur and Chennai. This will significantly boost their production capacity, which will take care of domestic and export demands.
The new facility will be spread across 177 acres and has an initial capacity of 4,50,000 two-wheelers. Eventually they will increase production capacity to 1.8 million units by 2018.
Inauguration of Yamaha Chennai facility was done by Tamil Nadu, Chief Minister, J. Jayalalithaa. Also present was Hiroaki Fujita, Chairman, Yamaha India and several other senior dignitaries.
At their new Chennai facility, Yamaha employees will manufacture only Saluto 125 amongst their motorcycles. In the scooters they will put together their Alpha, Fascino, Ray and Ray Z models.
