Yamaha Ends 1st Pre-Season MotoGP Test With Mixed Results
MotoGP teams have returned for their very first pre-season test. It was held in Sepang, Malaysia from 3rd to 6th of February, 2015. All teams were present at the test with their line up of riders of 2015 MotoGP championship. Movistar Yamaha was the only team to have revealed its new livery prior to the test.
Movistar Yamaha has retained its riders Valentino Rossi and Jorge Lorenzo for the 2015 championship. The Spaniard and Italian riders were out testing various setup options. They were happy to announce that the bike already feels way better than last year's championship runner-up motorcycle.
On the very first day of testing Valentino Rossi took the opportunity to showcase a new pre-season testing helmet. Jorge Lorenzo posted several fast laps and his fastest lap was a 2:00.521 and it was the third fastest time of the day. ‘The Doctor' on the other hand was quicker and posted the second fastest time with 2:00.380.
The second day provided different results for Movistar Yamaha duo. Jorge Lorenzo was the only rider to set a time below the two minute mark. The Spaniard posted a lap time of 1:59.963, which was the fastest for day two. Valentino Rossi was a bit slower and set his fastest time with a 2:00.676, making him sixth fastest for the day.
On the final day of testing the session was dominated by Repsol Honda's Marc Marquez. He was closely followed by his team mate Dani Pedrosa. Surprisingly a Ducati was involved in the top three thanks to Andrea Iannone, who is riding for the factory team this year.
Movistar Yamaha riders Jorge Lorenzo and Valentino Rossi finished the first pre-season test in fourth and fifth position respectively. The next pre-season test will be held in Sepang, Malaysia once again and is scheduled for 23rd to 25th of February, 2015.
