TVS Begins Testing Of The Upcoming Apache RTR 200
TVS Motors has commenced testing of their upcoming Apache RTR model. The new model is expected to be placed above the current Apache range offered in India. The new Apache RTR 200 is based on their Draken concept, which was showcased at 2014 Auto Expo in Delhi.
The new Apache is highly anticipated in the Indian market, owing to the growth in supersport motorcycles. TVS will be developing this motorcycle from the ground-up. They had previously announced the teaming up with BMW Motorrad to develop bikes for emerging markets.
Apache RTR 200 continues being a naked street fighter and will not be going the full-fairing route anytime soon. The new motorcycle will look completely different from the existing Apache range and will sport a new bikini fairing, headlamp, engine unit, and several new components as well.
Powering the new TVS Apache RTR will be a 200 plus cc, 30-odd bhp, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine mated to a 6-speed gearbox. TVS Motors will also provide ABS as an option with their motorcycle.
TVS is most likely to showcase this new Apache RTR model at the 2016 Auto Expo. The new Apache is scheduled to launch by mid-2016 in India and could be introduced in several international markets as well. Pricing is expected to be over Rs. 1 lakh ex-showroom for the model without ABS.
