Rossi Extends Championship Lead In Tricky Misano GP Conditions
‘Luck Favours The Brave' is a statement that will echo for a while in MotoGP. This Sunday MotoGP riders headed out to San Marino, Misano which is Valentino Rossi's home circuit.
The race begun as a normal dry race and we were surely in for a spectacle with Lorenzo, Marquez and Rossi all in the first row. At the first corner all three riders maintained their positions.
All of a sudden mother nature thought of helping Valentino Rossi, by showering down a steady drizzle. Several riders pitted for their wet bike, the trio, however, followed each other and stayed out for a couple of laps.
It was obvious they too would have to pit as the conditions proved tricky by the second. Eventually all three riders jumped into pitlane together and came out in the same order.
Rossi fresh from his British GP win in the wet weather, showed phenomenal pace and caught Lorenzo and Marquez. Subsequently ‘The Doctor' took the race lead and began opening up an advantage.
Sadly the weather took another turn and bright sunlight meant that everyone had to change tyre once again. Amongst the leading pack Marquez was first to jump on his dry setup, followed by Lorenzo.
Valentino Rossi stayed out for a couple of laps and it was too late, he lost the lead and it looked like Lorenzo and Marquez had the upper hand. Lorenzo was pushing hard on his outlap, which caused an error and was in the kitty litter.
Lorenzo did not score any points at Misano, while Rossi finished in fifth place. Marquez took a morale boosting win and was accompanied by Bradley Smith and Scott Redding on podium.
Marc Marquez now stands at 184 points in third, while Lorenzo has 224 points. Valentino Rossi lead with 247 points and importantly 23 points lead with only five races to go in 2015 Championship.
