MotoGP paddock head out to Circuit of Americas on 12th April, 2015. The weekend was not easy with threats from rain god trying to disrupt proceedings. Surprisingly the skies cleared for qualifying as well as race on Sunday.
The Circuit of Americas is a new track and has fast corners, hard braking and longest straight on the calendar. Ducati surely hold power advantage, however, Yamaha and Honda both are good round the corner.
The second round of MotoGP was contested at Circuit of Americas. Valentino Rossi entered the race with a lead in 2015 CHampionship. It was important to see if Ducati could mark their first victory in the 2015 season.
To no one's surprise Marc Marquez dominated all sessions in America. The youngest MotoGP champion loves the fast flowing track. He secured his consecutive win at the circuit and it was truly a battle for second place and nothing else for the others.
Andrea Dovizioso showcased why Ducati factory team is going to be a tough team in 2015. The Italian secured his second, second place in this championship. The Italian outfit is a dominant force and they will provide tough competition to others.
Multiple MotoGP Champion, Valentino Rossi showcased his skills and proved why he is still the best. The Italian secured third place and was fighting for second intensely, however, he suffered front tyre degradation that ruined his chance for a higher position.
Jorge Lorenzo had an amazing start from the first row, however, he was squeezed on the track and was dropped behind. The Spaniard fought valiantly and slowly yet steadily climbed back up to secure fourth position.
Andrea Iannone also fought hard from the back of the pack. The Italian rider fought hard and was riding for a podium finish, however, his pace fell off and he could manage only fifth position.
Suzuki Ecstar team had a decent run in only their second GP after their comeback. Alexis Espargaro was their best performer and held onto eighth position. The Japanese manufacturer is currently suffering from top speed issues and it is their only downside.
MotoGP rookie Maverick Vinales secured vital points for his team by holding onto ninth place. The Spanish rider is still getting used to his MotoGP machine, it won't be long before he too is fighting for higher positions.
It was a mixed outing for Aprilia team as Alvaro Bautista secured a single point down in 15th position. His team mate marco Melandri could not find his rhythm and had to retire in early stage due to some electronic issue.
Valentino Rossi is still leading the 2015 MotoGP championship by a single point from Andrea Dovizioso. Marc Marquez is third followed closely by Andrea Iannone and Jorge Lorenzo. The next race is scheduled for 19th April at Termas de Rio Hondo in Argentina.
