MotoGP 2015 Catalunya GP Dominated By Movistar Yamaha Duo
The seventh round of MotoGP was contested on 14th of June, 2015 at Catalunya, Spain. Team Suzuki Ecstar's Aleix Espargaro and Maverick Vinales took first and second for the race.
It was the very first time since 1993 that Suzuki had a one-two start for a race, back then it was Kevin Schanz and Alex Barros onboard their Lucky Strike Suzuki machines.
Everyone knew that the Suzukis would have great pace for a single lap but were unaware how they would fare over a race distance. When the red lights went out, it was evident Suzuki bikes lacked horsepower and were dropped down the order in the very first corner.
Once again it was Spain's very own Jorge Lorenzo who took the lead from the beginning. He was closely followed by Marc Marquez, who was pushing his Honda to the limit.
Finally the pace and pressure from Jorge Lorenzo and Yamaha paid off. Marquez went into turn 10 too fast and missed his braking point, as he ended in the kitty litter and out of his home race.
The race saw several riders losing traction and falling down. Cal Crutchlow was the first followed by Marquez and then Ducati's Andrea Dovizioso in the opening laps of Catalunya GP.
At the end of this round Lorenzo has closed down the lead to Rossi and the Italian is ahead by a single point. The Yamaha duo ended Catalunya GP one-two and Dani Pedrosa completed the podium.
The top Ducati rider was Iannone in fourth, while Suzuki's Vinales secured sixth place. Aprilia had a decent outing and finished for the very first time in tenth place. The next round is scheduled for 27th June in the Netherlands for the Assen GP.
