Lorenzo Wins Spanish MotoGP Ahead Of Marquez & Rossi
This Sunday at the Jerez circuit it seemed almost everyone knew who would win the fourth MotoGP race. Right from Friday practice Jorge Lorenzo displayed why he is a double world champion.
Lorenzo was exceptionally fast in every session and during qualifying he broke Marquez's lap record. It was the very first round in European circuit for 2015 MotoGP.
The Spaniard of recent is not known to start very well, however, he achieved one of the most perfect launches and was ahead of the pack from the very first corner.
Compatriot Marc Marquez started second and held on to the rear tyre of Lorenzo for a while. The Yamaha's pace at Jerez seemed exceptional and Lorenzo broke away in a couple of laps.
Valentino Rossi started the race from fifth place and gained a single position after turn one. He fought hard with Pol Espargaro who eventually succumbed to the pressure.
Ducati's Andrea Iannone had the worst start ever as he went from third to tenth in a matter of corners. The Italian rider made a human error by selecting a wet race mapping which ruined his race.
Marc Marquez had to fight of Rossi's late challenge once again, however, this time they both had the same tyres. Marquez was in a battle with himself as he was in tremendous pain due to a fractured finger on his left hand.
All in all, Jorge Lorenzo is back to winning ways and it is good to have one more contender for the championship. Rossi extended his lead in the championship with his 200th Grand Prix podium.
