Lorenzo Crowned 2015 MotoGP Champion At Valencia GP
Jorge Lorenzo is crowned 2015 MotoGP Champion at the Valencia GP. Lorenzo rode his Movistar Yamaha in spectacular fashion from start to finish and with this has won his third MotoGP Championship and all three titles have been with Yamaha itself.
Valentino Rossi entered the Valencia GP with a seven-point lead in the Championship. Unfortunately, ‘The Doctor' was handed a penalty and was made to start from the last row, owing to his clash with Marc Marquez in Sepang GP.
Starting from the back of the grid proved a monumental task for even a rider of Valentino Rossi's caliber. He fought valiantly and picked off six riders by turn one and steadily moved ahead. Rossi was catching up with Lorenzo, Marquez, and Pedrosa, however, overtaking several riders and pushing to the limit eventually ruined his tyres.
Rossi made his way into fourth place and then it seemed impossible to catch the leading pack. Valentino Rossi was able to match lap times with the top three, however, could not bring the gap down, which meant his Championship dream was over, and the ball was in Honda's court.
Repsol Honda's Marc Marquez and Dani Pedrosa followed Lorenzo all through the Valencia circuit. If both of them could manage to overtake Lorenzo, then Rossi had an outside chance of securing another Championship. Unfortunately, Lorenzo's pace was too good, and he maintained his position without any challenge from his compatriots.
In the end, Rossi is sad about losing the 2015 MotoGP Championship. We are sure he will fight hard next year as well and with the inclusion of new rules things could change. For next year, the entire MotoGP paddock will use Michelin tyres and bid adieu to Bridgestone.
