KTM-Bajaj have taken the world by storm with their current range of Duke and RC models, which are manufactured in India. They are also planning on newer models which will attract niche segment.
Austrian manufacturer has commenced testing its Duke 800 motorcycle, which is expected to be made in India. This will make sure that cost will be kept low and profits can be maximised.
So far, Bajaj Auto has been manufacturing smaller capacity Duke and RC range of motorcycles. This will be their very first big bike project and there is high possibility of Duke 800 launching in India.
Duke 800 is expected to sport a twin cylinder engine, which will be packed with performance. It is expected to produce a phenomenal 118 horsepower and will be mated to a slick 6-speed gearbox.
It is most likely to be debuted at 2015 EICMA, which will be held in Milan during November. Production is soon to commence post it global showcase and sales could begin from 2016.
Design wise KTM Duke 800 will borrow elements from Duke 690, however, it could be equipped with dual front disc setup. Expect this new Duke to be priced aggressively just as KTM does always.
