Kawasaki Versys 650 Adventure Motorcycle India Launch Most Likely On Dec 24
Kawasaki could be launching its highly anticipated Versys 650 motorcycle in India on December 24, 2015. The adventure bike will be launching in Mumbai and will be their last product for 2015. On display will also be the entire range from Kawasaki India's current portfolio.
Currently, Kawasaki offers the Versys 1000 motorcycle in the Indian market. The Versys 1000 had the task of taking on the popular Triumph Tiger range in India. Unfortunately, Kawasaki's litre-class adventure bike did not attract many buyers.
The Versys 650 will serve as an entry-level adventure bike and will sit above Kawasaki's Ninja 650 and below the Z800 motorcycle. Several parts will be shared between Kawasaki Ninja 650 and Versys 650, as their basically the same bike with different souls to attract a wider audience.
Powering the Versys 650 is a 649cc, parallel twin cylinder, liquid-cooled engine. Kawasaki has tuned this engine to produce 69bhp and 64Nm of torque. The engine will be mated to a 6-speed gearbox.
Kawasaki will be offering the Versys 650 to Indian customers as a Completely Knocked Down (CKD) unit. The adventure bike is most likely to sport ABS (Anti-lock Braking System) as a standard equipment. We expect Kawasaki to price the Versys 650 aggressively as the adventure bike segment is growing exponentially.
