Indian Motorcycles is currently owned by Polaris Industries, they have revived this American brand, which had declared bankruptcy a while ago.
They recently launched two new motorcycles in the Indian market. Roadmaster and Dark Horse were introduced at their new dealership outlet in Bengaluru.
Currently Indian Motorcycles are offered via the Completely Built Unit route, which attracts several duties and taxes. The American based manufacturer plans to locally assemble its cruisers for competitive pricing.
The entire range of two-wheelers from Indian Motorcycle has engines above 800cc, this attracts duties in excess of 75 percent which goes to the Indian Government.

In terms of pricing Indian Motorcycles is far ahead from its competitors in India. Local assembly of these cruisers will help pricing to be on par with Harley-Davidson and Triumph Motorcycles. This is expected to happen in the coming years and not anytime soon.
