This quarter-litre motorcycle will be built in India with inputs from Erik Buell Racing. Hero MotoCorp has promised that their HX250R will be packed with features.

The HX250R is now supposedly getting two riding modes. This feature has never been seen on quarter-litre motorcycles before. Riders will have the option to switch between Sport and City modes.

Hero MotoCorp will have to provide two different maps in their ECU system. They will offer a Dual Mode Fuel Injection(DMFi) system, that will allow them to offer riding modes.

Quarter-litre segment is considered to be the fastest growing segment among two-wheelers. In India currently the 250cc segment is heating up with several offerings.

HX250R will have to compete with the mighty giants Honda CBR 250R, , Pulsar RS200 and KTM RC200. Soon to launch products Hyosung GD 250R and Kawasaki Ninja 250SL will further intensify competition.

Here are the specifications of Hero MotoCorp's HX250R motorcycle:

  • Engine: 249cc single cylinder, liquid cooled
  • Horsepower: 31
  • Torque: 26 Nm
  • Gearbox: 6-speed

This will be a global product by the Indian manufacturer and it will be offered in Europe and U.S.A. Hero MotoCorp is developing its HX250R at Neemrana, Rajasthan.

The Indian manufacturer has not fixed a launch date, however, this quarter-litre motorcycle is expected to be available from 2015 itself. In terms of pricing, we believe it will be one of the most affordable 250cc motorcycles on offer in India.
