Hero Beats Honda In Scooter Exports
Hero MotoCorp has overtaken Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India to become the country's largest motor scooter exporter.
The companies split four years ago and went in their own path, competing with each other in sales.
Scooters being a majority in production for Honda, models like the Activa took over the Indian market like wild fire.
Both the two wheeler manufacturers competed, not only in domestic sales but with international sales and exports as well.
Hero MotoCorp being India's largest two-wheeler maker exported 15,776 scooters in 2013. In 2014, however, that export number saw a massive increase and the company managed to export 84,690 scooters in 2014.
Honda exported 42,717 scooters in 2013 and managed to export 79,184 units in 2014, several thousand units less than Hero Motocorp.
