2015 MotoGP: Valentino Rossi Wins Season Opener
MotoGP fans that watched the season opener, which was held in Losail, Qatar were in for a treat. 36 year old Valentino Rossi proved that age is not a factor, when it comes to winning a race.
The Italian did not have a great start off the line and was 10th after turn one. Marc Marquez who started from first row had a disastrous start as he could not brake in time and was forced off track and down in last place.
Ducati duo of Andrea Iannone and Andrea Dovizioso showcased that 2015 championship will have their bikes involved as well. The GP15 Desmosedici proved that it is currently on par with the Hondas and Yamahas in MotoGP.
In our opinion, the Ducati surely seemed to have an advantage over the rest of the field. The Italian manufacturer has tremendous straight line speed and mechanics have solved issues with the motorcycle that plagued it for several years.
‘The Doctor' proved why he is the multiple MotoGP winner, Andrea Dovizioso was surely on the better machine. Rossi, however, outsmarted him and crossed the line imposing his will and hunger to win races.
Repsol Honda who showed great pace in practice and qualifying, all of a sudden suffered and were out of the top four. Even Marc Marquez could not catch the Yamaha and Ducati with his valiant fight up to fifth place.
Here are the top six positions at 2015 Qatar GP:
- Valentino Rossi - Movistar Yamaha
- Andrea Dovizioso - Ducati Team
- Andrea Iannone - Ducati Team
- Jorge Lorenzo - Movistar Yamaha
- Marc Marquez - Repsol Honda
- Dani Pedrosa - Repsol Honda
