2015 MotoGP Australian GP Qualifying, Dominated By Marquez
The qualifying session has been completed for the 2015 Australian GP, and it seemed tough for both the Championship contenders. Marc Marquez took pole position in emphatic style, dominating most of practice session as well.
Jorge Lorenzo looked menacing, however, could not match the pace set by Repsol Honda's top rider-Marc Marquez. Unfortunately, Jorge Lorenzo could only manage to set the third fastest lap time. He was also frustrated with Andrea Iannone, who followed him around the circuit and stole second place.
Valentino Rossi had a disastrous qualifying session and was pushed down to the third row in seventh place. The Movistar Yamaha rider could not find an appropriate setup for the Phillip Island circuit. ‘The Doctors' crew will have to work overnight to make the motorcycle competitive.
Dani Pedrosa and Cal Crutchlow set fourth and fifth fastest lap times respectively. Both of them are keen to finish the season on a positive note. Pedrosa is in good form following a win in the last race.
Ducati and Suzuki seem to be enjoying the layout of Phillip Island and are eager to race tomorrow. Maverick Vinales and Aleix Espargaro set the sixth and eighth fastest lap times. Andrea Dovizioso was tenth fastest and was pushing his Ducati hard.
Apart from the racing drama, FIM MotoGP officials have announced, they will be inducting Nicky Hayden into the Hall Of Fame as a Legend. The American former MotoGP Champion will be moving to WSBK 2016 Championship. He will be chasing another championship and aiming to be the first to win both MotoGP and WSBK titles.
