2015 Australian MotoGP: A Thriller From Start To Finish
2015 Australian MotoGP round provided one of the closest fights from start to finish. Four riders on three different machines were trading places from lap one to lap 27. You have to see this race to believe the level of competition in MotoGP.
Marc Marquez, Jorge Lorenzo, Andrea Iannone, and Valentino Rossi were running together all through the 27 laps. Phillip Island circuit and this Sunday's race is being termed as ‘Race of the Season' and even ‘Race of the Decade'.
Jorge Lorenzo lead the race for most of the period, however, poor tyre management led to his downfall. Marquez on the very last lap overtook Rossi and caught up with Lorenzo in a matter of few bends, and took first place.
Ducati had the power down the main straight and only Honda could somewhat compete with them. Rossi knew he had to be ahead of Andrea Iannone, however, Iannone was desperate for a podium finish and fought valiantly with his compatriot for third place.
Movistar Yamaha clinched the 2015 Constructors title in MotoGP. The Japanese-based manufacturer secured 362 points. It is also the 60th anniversary of Yamaha and they could not have asked for anything more than their 37th manufacturers title.
Rossi fans need not worry as ‘The Doctor' still has an eleven point lead in the Championship. With only two races remaining, Valentino Rossi has to make sure he finishes both races ahead of Lorenzo for a comfortable win.
Next race scheduled is the Malaysian GP on 25th October 2015. This is another track that most riders enjoy and Valentino Rossi will be keen to dominate, Lorenzo is working hard as well. Marquez and Iannone have nothing to lose and will have the least pressure riding last two races.
