Suzuki To Replace Hayabusa
The Hayabusa has been the star for Suzuki for the past 15 years. The superbike was unique in its time and had a tremendous fan following. We have recently heard that the Japanese automobile giant is working on a replacement of the current bike.
Suzuki has not changed much in the Hayabusa since its inception. They have hardly touched the 1300cc bike since 2007, but implemented only minor upgrades like Brembo brake callipers and ABS.
Hayabusa uses the same engine from the first generation model, which was launched in 1999. The engine has stood the test of time and like most things this old, it could do with an update.
The current breed of 1000cc bikes now offer the same power and speed that was originally unique to the Hayabusa. The Hayabusa specialised in ride comfort with comfortable seating for the rider and pillion as opposed to the aggressive posture of the 1000cc superbikes.
The biggest challenge for the Hayabusa was handling and cornering, where other 1000cc superbikes left it way behind. While the 1300cc monster could pose no threat in corners, it could beat almost everything else in a straight line.
We expect Suzuki to launch their Hayabusa replacement in early 2015 or 2016. It all depends when the GSX-R1000 will launch, as Suzuki would not want them to clash. They plan to launch the GSX-R1000 during their MotoGP re-entry, and may reveal the Hayabusa replacement during that period to create a buzz among followers.
