Vespa 946 India Launch In June 2014, Piaggio Scooters To Be Introduced
The scooter segment in India is currently doing extremely well, displaying consistent growth. However, Piaggio owned Vespa currently occupies just 1 percent share in that pie and even dropped down in the last year. However, that has not deterred the Italian two wheeler maker a bit as it looks to expand its portfolio in the country.

Piaggio, earlier this week, launched the Vespa S premium scooter in Mumbai with a price tag of Rs 75,424, which is the second model after the Vespa LX/VX 125. The next planned launch is that of the Vespa 946.
Speaking the media interaction at the launch it was revealed that Vespa 946 would arrive in dealerships in the next three months. Vespa 946 is currently undergoing homologation in our country.
Vespa 946 is a hand built scooter which will be imported as a completely built unit and is thus expected to cost at least INR 8 lakhs. Clearly, Vespa 946 is a super premium product which will be at the top of the product lineup.
On the other hand, Vespa's parent company Piaggio is also interested in bringing its own branded scooters to India. And unlike Vespa Piaggio will be more aggressive in its approach as it plans to launch several new models of varied style and type.

The Beverly Sport Touring 350 and X10 500 Executive are some of the large engined scooters sold by Piaggio in European markets, while the large wheeled scooter is the 125cc Liberty, which was displayed at the Auto Expo last month.
