Mahindra With 8 Bikes In Moto3 For 2014
Mahindra had a successful run last year in MotoGP and were among the top runners in most races. In the 2014 season, however, Mahindra Racing has a better chance in the championship as well as seeing their bikes on the podium.
Mahindra will have 8 bikes this year on the track in moto3 class. Among these eight bikes, two of them will be factory teams and will race with Miguel Olivera and Arthur Sissis.
The other six bikes will be identical to Mahindra's MGP30 motorcycle, however, they will be setup and tuned, to the liking of the other teams.
It means in 2014 Mahindra will be manufacturing bikes for teams like Ambrogio Racing, whose riders are Brad Binder and Jules Danilo. Bryan Schoten and Alessandro Tonucci will ride aboard CIP Moto3. Last team is the San Carlo Team Italia, who will compete with Andrea Locatelli and Matteo Ferrari.
Mahindra will provide factory machines to all teams. They will provide a staff of two for track assistance for every race. So that each team can work with their own setup, consulting Mahindra professionals.
This is a great achievement for the Indian manufacturer, as it is the youngest manufacturer to supply bikes to teams. Mahindra will have the second most bikes on grid this year in moto3.
Mahindra Racing technical director Davide Borghesi, explains,"Preparing to supply eight bikes has been a challenge and a lot of hard work at the track and back at base, but we are working well with all of the Mahindra teams and we have a good package for 2014."
Mahindra Racing's Miguel Olivera, secured the sixth fastest time and was just 0.253 seconds off pace. Olivera explains,"It's been a good test. We had a good base from last year and from the previous tests so no big changes to the bike, just small adjustments on the engine braking, clutch and other settings."
He further added,"Overall I am happy with all of the work this winter. I feel great physically and mentally and very prepared. We are closer to the front now and that makes me excited and motivated about getting to Qatar to start racing."
