Mahindra To Join CEV Repsol Championship

Mahindra Racing has been competing in the Moto3 class for a while now. On 18th, March 2014 they officially announced that they would also take part in the CEV Repsol championship.

The Indian manufacturer will participate with two MGP30 race bikes. These are the same bikes which are used in the Moto3 arena.

Their team will be called Spanish Mahindra TMR Competicion, they will field two riders. It is a Spanish oriented race module. The focus is on new talent, who want to graduate to MotoGP standards.

Moto3 is a part of MotoGP series and this year Mahindra racing will have two factory riders, Miguel Olivera and Arthur Sissis. They will provide an additional six bikes to three teams.

Mahindra Racing believes it is great as they will harness various talents and will be beneficial in the development of their MGP30 bike.

The Mahindra TMR Competicion team will have onboard 17 year old Albert Arenas(Spanish) and 15 year old Stefano Manzi(Italian). The Spanish rider has won a race in 2013 CEV championship. The Italian is a race winner CIV Italian Moto3 championship and a participant among the Red Bull Rookies.

"The excellent performance of the MGP3O in the World Championship led to a lot of interest from customer teams and so it will be great to see eight Mahindra bikes on the grid in Qatar," explained Mufaddal Choonia, Mahindra Racing CEO.

He further added,"Adding Mahindra TMR Competicion's CEV programme makes sense for us as it is a great opportunity to gain even more data from our bike that will feed into our development programme. It also enables us to assess the Moto3 stars of the future."

Mahindra Racing will begin their Moto3 campaign from, Sunday 23 March in Qatar. The CEV International championship commences from 6th April in Jerez.
