Honda Plans For A Low-Cost Motorcycle For India
Honda Motorcycles and Scooters India (HMSI) is planning a low cost motorcycle, specially designed for the Indian market.
The design and development for this low-cost motorcycle from Honda, will have its R&D done here in India.
The Japanese motorcycle company, already sells a low budget motorcycle in the South African market, which is priced at USD 600 (INR 37,808).
Along with this, Honda will also planning on launching 10 new two-wheelers in India in 2015, of which 7 will be new products and the others will get upgrades. The motorcycle maker is also eyeing double-digit growth in India next year.
Honda is looking to increase its dealer outlets in the country as well. Currently, the company has 3,400 outlets. It is looking to expand outlets to 3,800 outlets by the end of this financial year. Also, in 3 years time, Honda is looking to multiply its dealer network to 6,000 outlets.
Even production wise, Honda is looking to increase productivity numbers to 5.8 million units, from present 4.6 million units, once the Honda manufacturing facility at Gujarat becomes operational.
Honda Motorcycles and Scooters India currently has an estimated 70,000 scooters that are yet to be delivered to customers.
