Round 5 of Honda One Make Race 2014
Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India Pvt. Ltd. (HMSI) on Sunday, concluded the grand finale of the Honda One Make Race 2014 at the Madras Motor Race Track.
The battle for the Honda CBR 250R Championship Cup was a very well contested race till the end of round 5. Sumit Loucs Toppo from Prolap Racing emerged victorious and walked away with the CBR 250R Championship Cup and a brand new Honda CBR 150R.
The winner was followed with a 5 point difference by Sarath Kumar of Ten 10 Racing, winning prize money of INR 20,000 and a trophy, and in the 3rd place was A. Prabhu of Motorev India, winning a prize of INR 10,000 and a trophy.
In the Novice class, Naresh Babu won the CBR 150R Championship cup, followed by R.Rajanikanth in second place and E.Sarvannan in third.
The prize money for the CBR 150R Championship Cup was INR 30,000 for the winner, INR 20,000 for the second place and INR 10,000 for third.
Newcomer Ami Van Poederooijen took a surprise win in the Honda CBR 150 Novice class. Vivian Gladwin David came in 2nd, with Shoban Bapu winning his first podium of the year in third place. Naresh Babu was declared Champion even though he finished in 7th place.
Since its inception in 2008, the Honda One Make Race continues to grow involving a total of 319 entries this year from biking enthusiasts from as far as Mizoram, Ahmedabad, Ranchi, Aizwal, Jalgaon, Pune, Hyderabad, Bangalore, Trichy and Aoroville.
The CBR 250R category was under a Team Championship where Honda leased out 16 CBR 250R motorcycles to teams registered to FMSCI. Excluding the engine, chassis and tires teams are permitted to modify the performance of the vehicle.
Honda further supplied the participating teams with original spare parts worth INR 10,000 and tyre replacement. These vehicles are modified with imported HRC performance kits.
