Honda & Hero Two Wheeler Price Cuts Following Excise Duty Reduction

India's largest two wheeler manufacturers, Honda Motorcycle & Hero MotoCorp are among the first manufacturers to announce price reductions on their products following Monday, Feb 17th's interim budget 2014 that saw excise duty of cars and bikes getting reduced.

The price reductions will be as much as Rs 7600 in case of Honda's motorcycles & scooters and up to Rs 4500 in case of Hero MotoCorp.

"We have decided to pass on the entire benefit of the excise duty cut to our customers. We have judiciously spread out the price cut across our product portfolio ranging from 2 per cent going up to 5 per cent with the maximum reduction being Rs 4,500," Hero MotoCorp announced in a statement.

Honda's entry level motorcycle Dream Neo will cost Rs 1600 less, whereas its most expensive product, the CBR 250R will now cost Rs 7600 less. Dream Neo is priced between Rs 43,150 & Rs 47,289 and the CBR 250R is priced between INR 1.58 lakhs & INR 1.93 lakhs. Note that all prices are as per ex-showroom, Delhi.

TVS Motors & DSK Hyosung have also said they will pass on the benefits of the duty cuts to customers.

The price reductions will be the same throughout the country as the tax is levied at the factory and not at the dealership level.
