Hero MotoCorp Sets Foundation Stone In Colombia
India's largest selling two wheeler manufacturer Hero MotoCorp is on a mission of domestic as well as global expansion. They have made their intentions clear to sell their motorcycles in over 50 countries by 2020. However, on 6th July, 2014 Hero MotoCorp set the foundation stone of its new facility in Villa Rica, Cauca, Colombia.
The Indian two wheeler brand organised an event in Colombia yesterday to mark the beginning of 'HMCL COLOMBIA SAS'. The construction of its new facility has begun and will take a while before its operational.
Present at the event was Temistocles Ortega, Governor for the State of Cauca and Pawan Munjal, MD and CEO of Hero MotoCorp Ltd. They will be building its facility across 17 acres at Villa Rica, which is in the state of Cauca. It will be operational by mid 2015.

The Colombian facility will be capable of producing 78,000 vehicles, when it is ready by mid 2015. They will further increase its capacity to 150,000 vehicles per year as their second phase plan. Hero MotoCorp will be the only Indian manufacturer to have a facility in Latin America.
The Indian manufacturer currently sells motorcycles in 19 countries and plans to grow further. Hero MotoCorp is the only Indian two wheeler manufacturer to touch the 50 million vehicle produced. They will soon commence the building of its state of the art facility in Colombia.
Speaking at the event Pawan Munjal, MD and CEO of Hero MotoCorp said, "With the setting up of the state-of-the-art world class plant here, we will bring the latest modern technology into the country. As we grow our dealer network and localise our operations, we will generate immense direct & indirect employment, thereby contributing to the overall development of Colombia."
