Harley Davidson Street 500 May Not Be Offered In India

Harley Davidson has launched their affordable cruiser the Street 750. They were also building a more tame cruiser the Street 500, which would fit perfectly in Indian markets.

The Iconic American comfort bike manufacturer has second thoughts about getting their Street 500 to India. Indians had great hopes from Harley Davidson, they could all be shattered if the rumors are true.

Street 750 costs 4.1 lakhs and is the most affordable product among their portfolio. It gathered great momentum in Indian markets and was an instant hit among the cruising community.

A new report suggests the American based company will be producing the Street 500 only for European and American markets.

Harley will plant a 494cc liquid cooled V-twin engine in their Street 500 cruiser. The bike will produce around 32 bhp and will breathe via 4 valves. It will have a smooth six speed transmission. It will be targeted to developed markets and riders who are beginning their journey.

We presume Harley Davidson doesn't want to offer the Street 500 in India, as it will be underpowered and may chase of potential buyers.

The Indian established manufacturer Royal Enfield has launched their 535cc Cafe Racer in India as well as in UK. It also is a more affordable option compared to Street 500. The Cafe Racer also produces more power than expected by Harley Davidson's option.

Harley Davidson will manufacture the Street 500 at their Bawal facility in Haryana. The Street 750 is also produced locally in India and is well acclaimed in international markets.
