Gujarat Police To Ride On Superbikes Soon
Indian motorcycle buyers have recently been purchasing power packed engines. To keep all the wrong doers in check the police has to either be on par or better than the general public. There is a significant rise in stunts and racing due to more powerful machines. This could put the pedestrians at risk and the police need to take action.
The new year will begin soon and there is a treat for Ahmedabad police officials. They will be purchasing approximately 20 super bikes from various manufacturers for different purposes.
The Ahmedabad police plans to purchase these motorcycle prior to Gujarat Summit, which is scheduled in January, 2015. These motorcycles will be primarily used to escort VIP guests and hunt down runaways.
Earlier the Gujarat police had acquired Bajaj Pulsar 220 and over 100 of these motorcycles plied the roads. There was, however, a major issue as most riders were inexperienced and could not control the machine at high speeds.
Now the police officials will be trained by the manufacturer of each of these bikes. The motorcycles will be fitted with special equipment to make it standout in a crowd. It will be fixed with sirens, saddlebags, police logos and badges, it is also expected to get a radio system for easy reporting.
The bikes being acquired are mostly DSK Hyosung, Triumph, BMW and Harley-Davidson. Currently only Street 750 will be available in January, they will later get other super bikes into their fleet. We believe, Ahmedabad police could also acquire Triumph's Bonneville and Hyosung's Aquila Pro motorcycles.
