DSK To Build New Plant Near Pune To Build Benelli Motorcycles
DSK Motowheels, a part of DSK Group, plans to invest INR 400 crore to build a new factory near Pune to manufacture Benelli and Hyosung motorcycles.
The company is in the process of building an entirely new plant in Maharashtra, close to its existing plant in Pune.
The new plant, which will be fully operational in a couple of years, is looking to manufacture 1,20,000 units of motorcycles per shift.
The current factory, where the Hyosung bikes are assembled, has a capacity of around 3,000 motorcycles a year. Adding another shift in the production cycle of the present plant can help assemble 5,000 motorcycles.
Since the company has signed in to bring Italian motorcycles, Benelli to India, Hyosung as well as Benelli motorcycles have to be manufactured side by side.
Benelli, the Italian company had showcased five motorcycles recently and have plans on launching the Tornado Naked Tre, TNT 302, TNT 600i, TNT 899 and the TNT 1130R in the coming year.
Benelli will first launch the Blackster Cruiser in February 2015, followed by the TN 225.
DSK will open separate outlets to sell the Benelli motorcycles and assure there will not be an overlap with Hyosung motorcycles.
DSK has a couple of motorcycle launches up it sleeve around March. The company will launch the Hyosung GT 250N and 250R.
