Bridgestone Battlax May Not Return To MotoGP In 2015
Many contracts will be ending this year in MotoGP, a few riders will be shuffled by next year. The main issue now will be the tyre manufacturer Bridgestone, their contract will be expiring and they plan of not continuing in MotoGP for the 2015 season.
Bridgestone will be weighing in all their options and will then decide whether to continue or not. Earlier in MotoGP there were two manufacturers supplying tyres. Riders and teams could choose which, rubber company worked best for them.
There have been rumors floating in the paddock that there could be multiple tyre suppliers as well as some new manufacturers who could enter MotoGP.
Dorna has expressed they do not want manufacturers to prepare tyre specifically for teams or rider, as it is happening in WSBK.
The current tyres force bike manufacturers to design their chassis according to the tyre. The Battlax tyre have so far favoured Yamaha and Honda, while Ducati have been not able to utilise their tyres well.
The varied wear and tear that the riders are facing from the tyres too are a major concern. The recent race at Texas seen many riders suffer from terrible rubber degradation of both front as well as rear tyre.
We believe Bridgestone should continue and Dorna should allow more tyre suppliers to enter the scene. This will be a clear indication which, rider prefers which rubber. It will also be great to see who can select and utilise their rubber well.
