BMW Motorrad Grows By 7.7 Percent In May 2014

BMW Motorrad recently launched its naked superbike in India the S1000R. The bike is based on its race bred sports bike the S1000RR. The German manufacturer has been working on a new 1200cc sports tourer, it will sport a boxer engine.

BMW Motorrad has maintained its growth at a stable rate for the fifth month in the running. Globally the two wheeler manufacturer sold 14,088 motorbikes among its range in the month of May, 2014. The German manufacturer sold 13,081 vehicles in the month of May, 2013. The sales figures include both motorcycles as well as scooters.

The German manufacturer sold 59,151 motorcycles in the first five months of 2014. During the first five months of 2013, BMW managed selling 52,400 motorcycles. This accounts for 12.9 percent growth in the first five months compared to the previous year.

Heiner Faust, BMW Motorrad Head of Sales and Marketing explains, "With solid growth of 7.7% in May and 12.9% for the first 5 months of the 2014 season, we have very easily exceeded the results for the previous year. We have managed to grow in all sales regions. Our growth is driven mainly by the new boxer models R 1200 RT and R 1200 GS Adventure."

He further added, "We are also particularly pleased with the incredibly successful market entry of our new products, the BMW R nineT and S 1000 R. These completely new BMW models will enable us to gain lots of new customers for the BMW Motorrad brand."
