This Sunday was the Silverstone Grand Prix and Repsol Honda's youngest World Champion Marc Marquez was determined to win. The Spaniard could not break Giacomo Agostini's record of winning successively and had equalled it.
The Silverstone MotoGP round began with Marc Marquez dominating all practice sessions. While the Factory Yamaha duo struggled with setup and could not post fast laps. During qualifying though Jorge Lorenzo found his setup and posted the third fastest time.
Marc Marquez secured pole position and looked strong for race with Factory Ducati rider Andrea Dovizioso securing second position. Valentino Rossi needed a decent start from his sixth position. While Dani Pedrosa began the race on his Repsol Honda in fifth place.
Marquez repeated with his poor start of the line and was easily overtaken by Lorenzo. The Yamaha rider fought hard and traded places several times. However, Lorenzo showed excellent pace in the opening stages. At this point Marquez was nursing his tyre for a fight with Lorenzo at a later stage.
There was an intense battle for third place between Valentino Rossi, Andrea Dovizioso and Dani Pedrosa. This time, however, Rossi stayed in front and maintained the pace. 'The Doctor' finished the race in third place without any hassles.
Marc Marquez and Jorge Lorenzo fought for the lead till the end. Once again the youngest MotoGP World Champion ends up touching the Yamaha, while overtaking. After that it was all downhill as Marquez opened a lead and easily won the race with Lorenzo in a disappointed second position.
Now Marc Marquez has won eleven races out of twelve, while Yamaha has still not won a single race. The next race is scheduled for 14th September, 2014 at Italy's Misano circuit. It will be interesting to see what can Valentino Rossi produce at Misano. Everyone is also keen to see how many races can Marc Marquez win in 2014 Championship.
