The second last race of 2014 MotoGP championship was held at Sepang, Malaysia. There were ups and downs during the entire race as once again only 14 riders completed the race. Repsol Honda duo Dani Pedrosa and Marc Marquez struggled in the initial stages.
2014 MotoGP champion Marquez struggled with his starts off the line and fell back to ninth place. Team mate Dani Pedrosa had an unexpected incident, however, he recovered and joined the pack. The Spaniards luck was bad as a second accident ended his Sunday afternoon.
Movistar Yamaha duo Jorge Lorenzo and Valentino Rossi showed excellent pace and were pulling away from the rest. Marc Marquez caught up with the two and overtook a struggling Lorenzo. Valentino Rossi also was overtaken due to a mistake in the final corner.
The youngest champion in MotoGP history could not shake ‘The Doctor' off his tail. They did not trade places, however, the multiple Italian champion piled loads of pressure. In the end Rossi settled for second place as his tyres were degrading at a rapid pace.
Marquez secured first place and became the only rider to have secured 12 wins in a season just like Mick Doohan. With this, Honda have stolen the constructors title as well in 2014. The reigning champion has one more race and can re-write the records book by scoring 13 wins and 13 pole positions in a single championship year.
Yamaha also have something to be happy about as they have secured the second and third place riders championship. Dani Pedrosa did not score any points and is out of the picture for second place. It is a close fight for second between Rossi and Lorenzo both Yamaha riders.
The final race is set to held on 9th November, 2014 at Valencia, Spain. It will be fascinating to see the Spaniard riders at their home circuit pushing for victory. So don't forget to catch the action from the final race of this year.
