These motorcycles were manufactured by the Ideal Jawa company in Mysore from 1960 till 1996. The bikes were available in three different engine capacities, 175 cc, 250 cc and 350 cc. They were all air-cooled engines.
This year, the meet will be held at Hombegowda School Grounds, 10th Cross, Wilson Garden, Bangalore. After that the bikers will ride to "Rasta", a cafe on the Mysore-Bangalore road about 40 km away.
This event will be a platform for biking enthusiasts, collectors and owners to showcase their bikes and interact with a few of the Ideal Jawa factory employees.
The Bangalore Jawa Yezdi Motorcycle Club (BJYMC), founded in 2007, has worked hard trying to revive these bikes which were almost forgotten during the course of time. However, In recent days, dedicated mechanics and bike lovers have restored numerous bikes back to their original condition.
In 1996, production seized when the company shut down due to bankruptcy. Thanks to clubs like this, the iconic twin-stroke beat is audible even till date.
