Engine and mileage
TVS Jupiter in short is the Wego wearing a different body. The engine is the same 110cc unit from the Wego, developing 8 HP and 8 Nm of torque. Power is transmitted via a CVT transmission. TVS claims a class leading mileage of 62 kmpl. Even the Wego has now been moved up to 62 kmpl.
Suspension
TVS makes no mention of the ‘Body balance' tech which is marketed with the Wego. But we figure the suspension system is the same. At the front are telescopic forks and at the rear is the standard unit swing with spring loaded hydraulic and gas filled suspension.
Features
One of the eye catching features of Jupiter are the trendy looking twin city lamps and LED tail lamps. The Jupiter comes with the same 12 inch alloy wheels from Wego. The matte black finish is adds a positive touch. The front disc brake option has not been provided though.
TVS Jupiter also comes with a few features not found on the Wego, which certainly add to the value proposition. These include pass light, low fuel warning lamp and the patented ‘Econometer'. This helps the rider extract max fuel economy by helping him/her drive in the green zone.
Finishing off the feature lineup are mobile charging point, retractable front and under seat bag hooks, a full face under seat helmet storage and external fuel filler.
TVS Jupiter will be available in four colours - grey, white, red and black and will be priced at Rs 44,200.
TVS also informed the gathering that on January 1, 2014, Scooty Zest, a variant of the Scooty series, will join the lineup.
