Titan Will Start Selling Two Wheeler Helmets From Next Year
Titan, India's leading lifestyle company, the makers of watches eyewear and owners of jewellery brand Tanishq has announced that it will expand to a new market. That of two wheeler helmets.
Titan believes there is potential in this unorganized segment which it can exploit to its advantage. According to Titan, the two wheeler helmet market is fragmented and existing products are not properly designed, unsuitable for tropical climate of the country.
"As part of our strategy to foray into unorganised and underserved segments in retail space, we will enter the helmet market in early 2014, with a superior quality product to ensure safety and comfort of two-wheeler riders," Titan managing director Bhaskar Bhat said.
Titan designed helmets will be eco friendly as well as suited to humid conditions. However, the helmets will be manufactured by third party vendors, based on Titans designs and will be bear the Titan logo.
"The potential for quality and branded helmets is huge in the absence of eco-friendly products in tropical conditions. We will design and engineer a helmet that is not only protective, but also comfortable to all riders," Bhat said.
