Royal Enfield Confirms New Continental-GT For 2013

Royal Enfield has inaugurated its second manufacturing plant to keep up with demands for its two wheelers worldwide. The second manufacturing plant is also located in Chennai in Oragadam. The new plant is spread across an area of 50 acres and has been set up with an investment of 150 crores. In its first phase the plant will add 150,000 units annually to Royal Enfield's existing production strength. Eventually, the plant will be capable of producing 500,000 annually.

Speaking on the occasion Mr Siddhartha Lal, MD & CEO, Eicher Motors Ltd. said "The heritage and history of Royal Enfield gives the brand an aura and an authenticity that cannot be replicated. With classical looks and powered by modern technology, Royal Enfield enjoys a highly differentiated appeal. The brand's endeavour is to provide a pure motorcycling experience to its customers worldwide"

The Royal Enfield Continental GT is a cafe racer styled motorcycle, with a flat seating position. Unlike traditional Royal Enfield bikes, the Continental GT has been seen wearing a red paint job.

Mr Lal further went on to say "We are planning to introduce the Continental-GT by year-end" While responding to questions put forth by reporters, Mr Lal revealed further information about the upcoming Royal Enfield. The Continental GT will be powered by a 525cc engine and will be produced at the Oragadam plant as well.

Royal Enfield recently introduced the new Bullet 500 with the ‘Forest Green' colour scheme. Royal Enfield, which is known for its motorcycles styled in classic design, is a popular brand across the globe and sought after by enthusiasts. Royal Enfield motorcycles sell particularly well in countries such as the United Kingdom (its birth country) and U.S.A.
