Royal Enfield calls the Continental GT as the lightest and the fastest bike they have ever made. At 184 kilos (with fuel) its not particularly light, but it's still the lightest 500cc motorcycle coming from RE.
The Cafe Racer style motorcycle is powered by a fuel injected 535cc engine producing 28.7 HP at 5,100 rpm and 44 Nm of torque at 4,000 rpm. The engine is coupled to a 5 speed gearbox.
A lot of attention has gone into developing the Continental GT, to achieve the perfect Cafe Racer styling. As such, the fuel tank is low profile, with recesses for the rider to grip the bike and a capacity of 13.5 liters. The seat is straight with a tapered end.
In a first for a Royal Enfield, a twin downtube frame was especially built for the Continental GT, in association with Harris Performance of the U.K.
Other notable components that form the Continental GT include Pirelli Sport Demon tyres, Brembo discs, Paioli twin gas-charged shock absorbers at the rear and 41mm forks at the front.
Royal Enfield Continental GT is expected to cost around INR 2.5 to 3 lakhs. Stay tuned for updates from the launch event tomorrow.
