KTM 690 Duke India Launch Likely In 2015
The Bajaj-KTM alliance has reached a stage where the duo are confident about launching larger and larger motorcycles that sell in lower volumes.
Sparked by the success of the 200 Duke and 390 Duke in India and abroad the company has decided to introduce the more premium 690 Duke in the country. Speaking at a press conference in New Delhi today KTM CEO Stefan Pierer informed the media that 690 Duke has been planned for a 2015 launch.

KTM 690 Duke does not share its platform with the smaller Duke range - 390, 200 and 125. It's also powered by a different 690cc, liquid cooled, 69 HP engine matched with a 6 speed transmission. Like the other KTMs the 690 Duke is a lightweight, tipping the scales at just 149.5 kg. ABS from Bosch comes as standard.
Considering the bike cannot share the same production line as the smaller Duke motorcycles at Bajaj's Chakan plant KTM is likely to be imported as a complete Complete Knock-Down kit and assembled locally by Bajaj.
Bajaj will also most definitely export the assembled 690 Duke to neighbouring markets, including Southeast Asian markets. This would allow Bajaj to sell the bike for a considerably competitive price.
How much do you think Bajaj should keep the asking price for the 690 Duke in India? Let us know in the comments section below.
