Harley Davidson 500cc Spotted During Testing
Harley Davidson is developing a small displacement motorcycle especially for India. This exciting piece of news was revealed to the world straight from the mouth of company COO Matthew Levatich during the 110th anniversary celebrations in Milwaukee, USA. You can read more about that story here.
The next question on everyone's mind was what sort of motorcycle would a 500cc Harley Davidson would be. The answer to that question would be particularly interesting as the American brand has never made a motorcycle that small. Thanks to Team-BHP member, Metallica, we now have a fair idea as to what to expect.
The test motorcycle was spotted during testing at the Gurgaon-Faridabad highway. The bike is not camouflaged, but neither does it sport the Harley Davidson badge, nor does it have any other direct indicators that might point out the brand name.
However, as you can see, the cruiser is unmistakably a Harley, which is attested by the shape of rear end of the bike, the tank and the low slung design that is similar to existing H-D models.
At this point in time no details about the bike, other than the engine being a 500cc unit, is known. Since it is a cruiser we would say the engine would deliver power in the range of 35-45 HP.

India will be the production hub for the 500cc baby Harley. A Brazilian facility could cater to the western market. The bike is unlikely to be sold in the U.S, but would be marketed in European markets. Expect the bike to be priced around the INR 4.5-5 lakh mark in India.
