Erik Buell Racing 1190RX At AIMExpo Gets A Warm Reception
Erik Buell Racing unveiled its new EBR 1190RX superbike at the 2013 AIMExpo in Orlando, U.S.A on October 16. The 1190RX is a long awaited and affordable version of the premium limited production 1190RS. The 1190X is a remarkable motorcycle which is expected to challenge the currently popular European and Japanese liter class bikes in the U.S such as the Ducati 1199 Panigale and the Kawasaki Ninja.
EBR 1190RX retains most of the positive aspects of the 1190RS, but cost cutting has been acheived by letting go of carbon fiber parts for instance. This has allowed EBR to price the new 1190RX at a competitive $18,995 (INR 11,72,371). Another significant announcement made by EBR is that it will enter the 1190RX into World Superbike Championship.
The new superbike is powered by a 1190cc engine that generates a power of 185 HP at 10,600 rpm and a torque of 137.8 Nm @ 8200 rpm. The performance is enough to push the 1190RX into the big league.
Even without the carbon fiber bits the EBR 1190RX still manages to keep its weight down to 419 lbs/190 kg, on an empty fuel tank.
Some of the notable features include a Ducati 1199 Panigale style, full colour TFT instrument display and LED headlight unit. But the crown jewel has to be the 21-setting traction control system!
Front forks are Showa Big Piston units, while fully adjustable Showa monoshock does duty at the rear.
EBR's characteristic ZTL single-disc brake design features on the 1190RX and so does the aluminium frame with integrated fuel reservoir.
EBR 1190RX comes in Strike Yellow, Racing Red, & Galactic Black colours.
