At the India Auto Expo in Feb 2014, Hyosung will launch the first of the two bikes, the long awaited Aquila 250 cruiser. The launch of the GD250n, on the other hand, will happen only by April 2014.
The Aquila 250 is the entry level cruiser model that is powered by an oil cooled 249cc V-Twin engine. The cruiser generates 27 HP power at 10500 rpm and 22 Nm of torque at 7500 rpm. Coming to the GD250N, it's a naked street bike, much like the KTM Duke range. In fact, even the basic styling is similar to the Dukes. The underslung exhaust for instance and the sharp styling.
Hyosung GD250N is fitted with a 249cc, single cylinder, liquid cooled engine that generates about 28 HP of power at 8500 rpm and a peak torque of 25 Nm at 7000 rpm. This places the GD250N about the 200 Duke in terms of performance.
The transmission doing duty on the GD250N is a six speed unit, once again like the KTM. The bike also comes with upside down front forks, rear monoshock, a diamond type tubular frame, alloy swingarm and 17 inch wheels. Expect the Hyosung GD250N to be priced at over INR 1.6 lakhs (ex-showroom).
Also of note is that both models will be assembled in India which will allow them to be competitive.
