Piaggio had re-entered scooter market in the country with the premium Vespa LX125 recently. The Vespa life style scooter has been highly priced and now, to draw sales volumes, the company is planning to launch another scooter - Fly 125cc. Motorbeam has revealed that Piaggio will launch the 125cc version of the Fly which it currently sells in the international market with a 150cc engine.
The company hopes the Fly 125cc to give it an upper hand in the segment by taking on the likes of best selling scooters - Honda Activa, Suzuki Access and Swish. The scooter which is already on sale in other markets is expected to be launched in India in the next couple of months.
The Fly 125cc will be powered by the same engine fitted on the Vespa. Fuel economy will be the strongest point of the engine which produces around 10 BHP of peak power and 10 Nm of peak torque.
The Piaggio Fly 125 gets telescopic forks at the front and hydraulic shock absorbers with pre-load adjuster at the rear. The scooter features drum brakes with front disk brake available as an option. There is no other information available as of now. Expect the scooter to be priced around Rs 50,000.
