Here is a scooter that will run for a whopping 180 kilometers for just Rs. 5. Students at the Dhanalakshmi Srinivasan Engineering college in Perambalur, Tamil Nadu have developed this electric scooter as part of the project.
The electric scooter has three motors. The first two provide the wheels the power to move while the third motor uses the scooter's kinetic energy to generate electricity and charges the battery. The scooter consumes one unit of electricity to get charged and can then run for a distance of 180 kilometers.
The students have definitely developed something which is revolutionary in the field of transport. Many companies are trying to develop electric vehicles that are cost effective and highly practical but not many have been successful. It is a known fact that electric vehicles will be our future means of transport once our oil resources dry up. But the electric vehicles currently available in the market do not have high range which makes them less practical.
This electric scooter with 180km range is definitely an answer to this nagging problem. Anybody will take an electric scooter with such a range. But more importantly it can travel this distance at a cost of about Rs.5 which is the average price of one unit of electricity.
The scooter is said to be more practical as its battery can be charged within an hour. Usually electric scooters need to be charged for 3 to six hours. This new scooter will be the darling of environmentalists as it does not emit dangerous emissions like petrol or diesel powered vehicles.
The 180km electric scooter has been appreciated by several people. The students of The Dhanalakshmi Srinivasan Engineering college have to be appreciated for their efforts.
