TVS Motor Company has finally launched the new Apache RTR 2012 flagship model at Rs 67,505. Earlier, the company had announced that it will launch the new Apache RTR on April 23rd. While the RTR 160 will be sold at Rs 67,505, the RTR 180 is priced at Rs 72,090 and the RTR 180 ABS at Rs 82,780 (ex-showroom prices, Delhi).
All the three RTR 160, RTR 180 and RTR 180 ABS has got a facelift. According to TVS, the new themed design and styling has eliminated the excess curves and chiseled the bike to the perfection.
TVS Motor Company President H S Goindi said: “We have taken the Apache RTR to the next level with obsessive engineering and menacing design. The priority in every step of the Apache brand’s development has been race bred performance. Every system, detail and component has been tuned to maximize performance. Apache as a brand has been very well received.”
The new Apache RTR 2012 gets daytime running LED pilot lights which will start working soon as the ignition is turned on. A sporty tank cover, sculpted digital console, sharpened side panels and a tweaked engine cowl add up to the aerodynamics and sportiness of the 2012 Apache RTR.
However, there has been no tweaks to the engine, suspension, frame of the new TVS Apache RTR. The bikes are powered by the existing engines with the 160 cc powertrain in the RTR 160 producing 15.2 PS of power with 118 kmph of top speed and the 180cc variant producing 17.03 ps of power with a top-speed of 124 kmph.
The new Apache RTR 2012 models will be available in showrooms across India with an option of four dual tone colours. However, it has to be seen if the new Apache RTR 2012 model can live up to the expectations of the motorcycle manufacturer with just a few design modifications.
